Lima, Pa.—August 2, 2010—Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announced that it has opened a new station in Harlingen, Texas, near the border with Mexico. This station marks the 5th Pilot location in Texas.
The Harlingen station will focus primarily on the automotive, electronics, healthcare, aerospace and telecommunication industries. The station will provide a broad range of services, including expedited shipping options, and international import/export, both via air and ocean. The opening of this new station will support Pilot’s efforts to increase their presence in Mexico. To this end, an internal Pilot salesperson was recently placed in Monterrey, and the company plans to add salespeople in other cities in Mexico in the future.
“The Harlingen station fills the last piece of the Texas/Mexico border that Pilot wasn’t previously covering,” said Scott Lychwick, owner of the Pilot stations in Harlingen, El Paso and Laredo. “We’ve seen customers react positively to the fact that we’re larger than most freight forwarders with a lot more coverage and services to offer, but smaller than some of the larger companies that seem to want to fit customers into their service scope.”
The station is located at 1617 East Harrison Avenue in Harlingen, and will be managed by Juan Martinez, who previously worked in the Laredo station.
