Service Conditions
ADDRESS CORRECTION
In the event a consignee’s address is incorrect, Pilot will attempt to find the correct address. If the shipment is to be delivered to another address, a re-delivery fee will be assessed in accordance with current delivery rates. If the correct address cannot be determined, the shipper will be contacted only for disposition. If the shipment is returned, it will be at the shipper’s expense.
BILLING
Shipments will be accepted with the freight charges being billed prepaid, collect or third party. The shipper and consignee are liable jointly and separately for all unpaid charges. If no block is checked on the Pilot way bill, the shipment will automatically be prepaid.
CARGO LIABILITY
Pilot Freight Services will only be liable for the value declared on the Pilot way bill. It represents the maximum liability for all loss or damage of the entire shipment. Exposures beyond the value declared are not assumed by Pilot. These liabilities are assumed by the shipper or transferred to an insurance company by the purchase of an insurance policy. Pilot will provide additional coverage when requested, according to Rules and Regulations Tariff No. 2.
CLAIMS
Cargo claims for loss or damage can only be initiated online at www.pilotdelivers.com. An email will be sent to the email address provided on the online form advising the claim has been initiated. Claims cannot be filed with a local Pilot station, nor via U.S. Mail. Any claim not submitted via the Pilot website will be deemed invalid. Notification to the local Pilot station, or Pilot’s National Customer Service team, either verbally or in writing, does not constitute the filing of a preliminary claim. In the case of a clear receipt, claims for concealed damage or concealed loss must be reported to Pilot within twelve (12) calendar days after delivery of the shipment to a business or within three (3) business days after delivery of the shipment to a residence. A business day is defined as a weekday (Monday through Friday) that is not recognized as a U.S. Federal holiday. Pilot reserves the right to complete an inspection of the shipment within fifteen (15) calendar days after receipt of claim notification.
