Pilot Freight Services’ Highland Heights Location Earns ISO Registrations

Highland Heights, OH—June 8, 2009—Pilot Freight Services, a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, today announced that its logistics facility in the Cleveland area has earned two ISO registrations, ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 13485:2003. Pilot began the process of obtaining these registrations in 2008, putting together internal processes and procedures in preparation for audits required to receive registration. The Highland Heights facility’s primary customer is Philips Healthcare, who requires their business partners to be ISO registered.

“Philips is an important customer for Pilot, so we were more than happy to obtain ISO registration to comply with their requirements,” said Lisa Coyle, Vice President of Quality and Administration for Pilot. “The ISO standards are vital to effectively managing a consistent business result when there can be many variables in the process.”

The ISO 9001 standard provides a number of requirements that an organization needs to fulfill to achieve customer satisfaction through consistent products and services which meet customer expectations. This includes a requirement for the continual improvement of the quality management system. The ISO 13485 standard specifies requirements for quality management systems where an organization needs to demonstrate its ability to provide medical devices and related services that consistently meet customer and regulatory requirements.
