Pilot Promotes Lygdel DeLeon to Canada Country Manager

Pilot Promotes Brian Flower to Vice President of Operations

GLEN MILLS, PA – September 25, 2019 – Pilot Freight Services (Pilot), a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services, announces the promotion of Brian Flower to vice president of operations. In his new role, Flower will be responsible for setting all operational policies and key performance indicators as well as defining standardized station procedures. Additionally, he will establish pricing protocols, manage vendor relationships, and oversee TSA compliance.

Flower honed his operational strengths at both the regional and district levels throughout his almost decade long tenure with Pilot. As vice president of operations, he will continue to focus on optimizing efficiencies across Pilot’s vast network and applying systems to meet the needs of customers. Prior to his promotion, Flower served as the northeast regional vice president managing, supporting and mentoring district managers within the territory. Previously, Flower was district manager of Pilot’s Newark, NJ (EWR) station and with his leadership in 2010 the facility became the company’s first corporate certified cargo screening facility (CCSF). Flower helped model the program for the company as it expanded to other stations. He has provided a link for other stations to IT by testing company initiatives before launch. Flower’s team has repeatedly earned a top spot in operations excellence rankings year after year and has been the recipient of four peer-nominated awards celebrating the station’s efforts.

GLEN MILLS, PA – August 13, 2019 – Pilot Freight Services (Pilot), a worldwide provider of transportation and logistics services has a new global headquarters located in a Class A property at 2 Braxton Way in Glen Mills, PA. The new space, spanning 45,000 sq. ft. over one and a half floors, consolidates three separate divisions that were previously compartmentalized across three buildings including a former schoolhouse. The new dynamic office is a purposeful reflection of Pilot’s solution-based, progressive and collaborative culture as a leading technology-forward transportation company.

Designed in partnership with Philadelphia-based, Formcraft, the open floorplan eliminates barriers and actively encourages cross-functional collaboration and decision making where team members can share experiences and insights in a variety of gathering spaces. Pilot’s new office is outfitted with more than ten conference rooms, huddle rooms, and alternative meeting spaces including acoustical booths in open areas enabling teams to gather, communicate and discover client-focused solutions. Pilot integrated the latest technology to connect corporate team members to staff in the field through large scale audio and video conferencing capabilities. This encourages real-time collaboration between stations across the country and internationally with operations, finance or sales teams to develop opportunities to achieve clients’ goals.

Upon entering the new office space customers and employees are greeted by Pilot branded messaging and website on an impressive 98” monitor. Modern graphic references to the logistics industry including barcodes and modes of transportation are present throughout the space. Focal walls covered in pallets and another in corrugated metal are reminiscent of shipping containers and warehouse materials prevalent in the industry. The third and fourth floor cafés feature Pilot orange offset by vibrant blues and subtle metallic grays while monitors display company-wide messages and serve a dual role for employees to watch programing during breaks or social events. The cafés also serve as informal gathering or work areas for team members to interact.

The conversation areas enable Pilot employees to be mobile and productive working in a modern and efficient manner. As employees move through the space, the National Customer Service Center (NCS) on the third floor is an opportunity to experience first-hand the renowned level of service Pilot provides to consumers and clients. Shawn Burrell Named Regional Vice President for Pilot’s Western Region and

Burrell will oversee Pilot’s Western Region from Salt Lake City, UT while Ponder will manage the Central Region from New Orleans, LA. A 27-year veteran of the transportation industry, Burrell began his career at Pilot Salt Lake City, as a district manager in 2003. Burrell has been recognized as a mentor and leader as a recipient of Pilot’s Rising Star and Simply the Best awards to celebrate his dedication to his team’s professional development while maintaining a focus on aligning sales growth with operational excellence. Burrell has overseen double-digit growth there by securing several long-term clients, and most recently, helped implement a national dealer direct program for a high-end appliance manufacturer. In his new role, Burrell will work to enhance and support district managers with a clearly defined goal of increasing sales in the Western Region while continuing to reach new levels of operational success.

Ponder joined Pilot in 2017 as the international sales director for the Central Region and over the last year has grown international revenue in the territory by over twenty percent. Prior to Pilot, Ponder opened MIQ Logistics New Orleans location and also served as the company’s interim district manager for Atlanta. Earlier in his career, Ponder earned sales recognition awards while at BAX Global and DB Schenker. In his new role at Pilot, his deep understanding of the complexities of sales and operations combined with a proven track record of working with clients, Pilot team members and industry peers throughout his twenty-plus year career will be an enormous asset to the management of the Central Region. He will continue to work closely with district managers to grow Pilot’s client base and implement new opportunities.
